I believe Max is trying to teach Auntie how to do the "tough guy" face. He's wearing his beautiful birthday sweater that she made for him while enjoying some fresh air in her garden.
How could he not love Auntie? When she went into the kitchen he would follow her or at least follow to the door.
And here he is with the kitchen cabinets! It took him a while but he did figure out that they slid open instead of pulling open. He had a great time in her kitchen!
