Bath Night

Last night Max got a bath. Big brother helped out, which was nice. Max is very clean and smells good, esp his puffy hair. :) He still enjoys having a bath. He seems to like the warm water. And unless the water goes in his nose he doesn't complain. I think that when he gets older he will be more like his cousin Alfie with the splashing about. But for the moment he seems content to just enjoy the sensations.

He then went on to sleep from 10pm to 6.30am. 8.5 hours! Yay! And I slept from 10.30 to 6.30. 8 hours of consecutive sleep feels great!!

Maybe Max's dancing helped him to sleep through the night. He spent about 15 minutes in my lap dancing, and then did a little more dancing on the bed last night with Daddy while I was putting away the laundry. He likes to have us move his hands and then he moves his legs, although he will allow us to do his legs while he does his arms. He really seems to love music!

Big Bottle Boy

Last night Daddy gave Max his last feeding of the day. He's been doing a bottle a day but we were doing around 1 ounce because Max doesn't like the bottle as much and we didn't want to waste the liquid gold. But last night Max had 2 ounces and sucked it down in a hurry so we gave him the rest of the small bottle which turned out to be 3 ounces. So a total of 5 ounces. And he ate it all. Yay Max!

His string of nights with 8 consecutive hours of sleep is over. He did 10pm to 3am and then 4am to 7am. Still not too shabby.

And this morning Julian got his wish of holding Max while standing up. :)

2 Months Old Today

I started a new blog since Max is no longer just the unknown Sugar Plum. It is amazing to me that he is only 2 months old. It seems in some ways like he's been a part of my life forever. And in other ways 2 months seems like a lot of time. He has grown and changed so much already.

As I type this he is sleeping in his sling, strapped to me. He's warm and snuggly. Before he falls asleep he usually gives me a big smile and then wiggles his head to really get cozy.

He is a very happy baby and we are very lucky with him. He eats well, sleeps well, and seems to generally enjoy life. How could he not? He eats, sleeps, and poops. What an ideal life! :)

He has been sleeping very well at night. The last 3 nights he has slept for 8 consecutive hours, starting somewhere between 8 and 10pm. When he wakes up in the morning he first "requests" his breakfast and has a diaper change. After that he likes to lay in the bed and giggle and coo and chatter away. He kicks his arms and his legs and really just seems to have a fun time. This morning he had one arm on me and one arm on Daddy. It is so sweet to watch him and to hear him be such a happy baby.

Max's other favorite activity is dancing. He likes it when we put music on. He'll either move his arms and legs himself, or really laugh when we do it for him. Sadly his dancing moves are therefore limited to my incredibly small repertoire. When we played Queen's Bicycle for him, he was doing his legs like a bicycle rider. Julian was especially excited about this.

I'm going to try to go back and fill in some information from the last 2 months, and I will try to update this regularly to keep everyone posted on how he is changing.

Memorial Day

The whole Memorial Day weekend was relaxing. Since Max was the only child in the house, we were able to have a laid back weekend. Max ate and slept and pooped on his own schedule and we worked around it. He slept a lot. 8 consecutive hours on Sunday night and then an extra few hours after his first breakfast. It was fantastic!

The afternoon festivities were at the Miske house. Max was able to enjoy his first holiday with them. A good time was had by all. Yummy cheeseburgers for me. Cheeseburgers, corn on the cob, salad, and fruit salad for Daddy. And lots of adoring fans for Max. The Miskes also gave Max two super cute outfits with matching bibs and sent along some little toys for Nik and Julian too. The big kids were excited to get something (we gave it to them when they got home from their mother's house) and that helps to keep them from resenting the new baby. We tried telling the other guests that we brought the baby instead of a cheesy pie, but in the end the pie was actually shared with everyone. Tragedy struck my pie at home and it fell on the floor. Luckily it was still in the pie crust case so it is still edible, but it no longer looks like a pie. It is a pile of delicious pie casserole now. I doubt the appearance will stop me from eating it. :)

11 pounds, 12 ounces

Max went to the doctor to see if his little baby cold was anything more than a little baby cold. He had been snuffling and having trouble sleeping. Turns out it was just a cold. And the doctor warned me that baby colds last for about 2 weeks. The best thing about going to the doctor was having him weighed. He was also big enough to go in the scale on the big kid side instead of the tiny baby side. 11 pounds, 12 ounces. I don't think we need to worry about any issues with him not latching on well! May 30 is his 2 month checkup.
