Max Helps Out

So today at MyGym, Max was photodocumented helping to pick up the balls and put them into the bucket.

This evening Max was "helping" me do the laundry, and he put the light-colored baby clothes into the basket for me, all by himself. He decided it had to be done and he started doing it. Even tho the basket in question is about the same height as he is. It was, of course, adorable.

The other thing Max does to help out is brush his own hair. And now that he has figured out a bit about mirrors, he likes to look in the mirror while brushing his hair. He has about a 50% success ratio, but it is 100% adorable!

Thanks Nik!

Nik and Max playing with the toy Nik gave Max for his birthday. You put a ball in the top, it makes a noise, and then the ball rolls around the outside of the tree and pops out at the bottom.

Thanks Granny for the little outfit!

I think it looks better now that I added some toast to it...

Dinner with Tweek

Tonight Max and I met Tweek for dinner at Friendly's. Because ice cream for dinner is a wonderful thing. I had a grilled cheese and Max had some sweet potatoes and some cantelope (and rejected some turkey) and then we had some ice cream. I wanted my standard peanut butter cup sundae and Max can't have peanuts or chocolate. So I asked for a tiny tiny tiny cup of vanilla ice cream for Max. And that is just what he got. The perspective makes it look bigger, but the ice cream came in a cup like you would normally get mayo in. It was perfect for a tiny little baby. Max also wore his geekling shirt in honor of seeing Tweek.

Rinse and Spit

It is amazing how much Max picks up on... He watches Nik and Julian brush their teeth at night. And that includes watching them rinse and spit. Last night I was running Max's bath, and he was playing around with the drawers in the bathroom. He has a lot of fun opening the drawer of hair accessories and throwing them on the floor, but that isn't quite so much fun for me. So I tried to distract him by giving him the cup from next to the sink. He immediately put it up to his mouth like he was drinking out of it, and then took it away and made a spitting noise. I picked him up and held him at the sink and he did it again. It was too adorable! So I took him downstairs and he showed Grandma. :) He is definitely taking in a lot of the world around him!

Max's Birthday Party at MyGym

Max had such a great time at his birthday party. It was hard to pick just a few of the 300+ photos of the various activities. He was working off a 30 minute nap, but that didn't slow him down at all. He really had a blast! And although I got teary-eyed I didn't cry! And I didn't have any nap at all! :)

Max (in his My First Birthday shirt) laughing with Mira.

His birthday cake cupcake. I think Glen called it a decoy cake. We had cupcakes for all the kids, since those were easier for us to serve to them and for them to eat. We waited until we got home to slice up the big cake. The top part is funfetti cake and the bottom is chocolate. Julian picked out the candle.

Max on his "rocket ride" in the kiddie seat. He got to go first since it was his birthday. Miss Carmen is the owner of MyGym and teaches Max's class. The girl in the purple shirt was there to make sure Max had a great time and felt totally special.

Max is in the car for his special birthday parade. Nik is pushing him and Julian is right behind. The kids all sang Happy Birthday to Max and Max rode in the car and clapped. He also beeped the horn.

Duncan enjoyed the bubbles. Sadly it was impossible to photo document him trying to eat them off the floor, but it was totally adorable!

Thanks to Krista for demonstrating that I was at the party! Max is catching the bubbles. It took him a while to warm up to the idea, but the other kids were loving it and he decided to join in.

Max in the seesaw. He loves to rock in it, even if he doesn't have a seesaw partner. He can do his version of baby dancing and bounce up and down.

I hadn't seen Max on this before, but he was very excited about climbing up.

Max had cake for the first time. He and I split a funfetti cupcake with white frosting. He was more interested in the cake wrapper at first but after I broke off a few bites of cake for him he was totally willing to try to take a bite!

Max in the birthday swing. This was probably his favorite part!

Yo Baby!

Yesterday we had Max's first well-baby visit with the new pediatrician. We were pleased with the new office, new doctor and with the less than 5 minutes it took to get from our house to the office!

Max's stats:
Weight 22.5 pounds, 60% percentile
Height: 30 1/4 inches, 80% percentile
Head: 19 1/4 inches, 95% percentile

So yes Bob, he IS a BobbleHeadBaby!
Also the doctor, after looking at me and Mark, did say that after he hits about 2 years his height vs weight will more accurately reflect his genetic destiny. And that his current good health is a reflection of my good health while I have been pregnant and nursing. So apparently chocolate, sausage McMuffins with egg, cake, and other delightful treats are key to good health. You heard it here! :)

The doctor also said Max can now eat just about anything. We will still avoid the high allergy foods, just to be sure, but with no history of food allergies we don't actually have to avoid those. I'll err on the side of caution. But Max is now cleared for dairy and meat. So last night he had his first YoBaby yogurt. Mixed berries. He was a BIG fan. Maybe it is the baby version of yotastic yogurt. You never know. :) The serving size is actually pretty big, for a baby. And he ate almost all of his little pot of yogurt after eating a full serving of cereal, a cube of rutabaga and a cube of carrot, some grape quarters, and some blackberry quarters. He also tried rice rusks for the first time and demolished them. So that is another excellent food for taking on our trip. And he didn't make a huge mess with them like he did the first time he had an arrowroot cookie. All in all it was a good day for foods.

His birthday party is today and we'll let him have a funfetti cupcake to celebrate. But first it is time to make some waffles for breakfast!

Thanks Granny and Grandpa!

Aerial photo of reading time.
Here he is looking at the photo album Granny made for him. And he's even looking at Granny's photo!

And here he is taking his book for a little walk. :)

Taco Tongue

Today Max made the taco tongue for the first time! We have been working on it for a long time. I have been showing him and he puts his finger inside the taco, and he puts out his tongue and puts his finger in the middle. And today he really did it! Woo hoo!
Sadly I was not able to get a photo of the perfect taco tongue, but I offer you what I've got... :)

Thanks Liz!

His shirt says One day, I will be a CEO. Anything is Possible.

Happy Max

Max was far too interested in his truck and his tupperware to look at me.

Max (in a cute little outfit from Duncan -- Thanks Krista!) with his favorite cupboard (the one he can open)

Max testing a limit... Is this the thing you don't want me to touch? :)

He's such a happy baby!

The whole family is involved in this photo...

Mark snapped this great photo during the dolphin show. Spirit jumped 18 feet out of the water to hit the ball with her nose. Amazing!
