We had a bit of a scare last week. Max had a head cold. And then it got worse. I called the doctor's office and got him an appointment on Wednesday. We got there around 4pm. By 5pm they had decided we needed to go to the ER in an ambulance. His blood oxygen level was below the lower limit of ok and they wanted him to stay on oxygen on the way to the ER. I had Nik with me and it was the first time any of us had been in an ambulance. The paramedics were very nice. And I learned that they can make the gurney into a baby carseat! Max perked up half way to the hospital and was smiling at one of the female paramedics. Nik was happy when we got to the ER because they brought a Wii in for him to play with.
Max had a few more breathing treatments but was still a little wheezy, so we decided that he would be admited and they would continue with the treatments during the night. Better to have him at the hospital on the monitors instead of me staring at him breathing all night!
By the morning he was doing much better and they agreed to discharge him. We had a follow up appointment on Friday and his lungs sound clear. We have another follow up on Tuesday and expect to hear then that he is totally back to normal. He is definitely back to his normal happy self and I feel much relieved!!!

Eek! But he's all better now, right?
What was the problem? Just so much congestion in his lungs that he wasn't getting enough oxygen?
