4th of July
For the 4th of July we surprized Granny and Grandpa by showing up at their party to celebrate their first Independence Day as Americans. It was quite the surprize! I had told Michael that we were coming down, but not until Thursday morning. As we got closer, Michael told Mom and Dad that he had a surprize for them outside. They resisted going outside because they were trying to finish getting ready. The first time we weren't quite close enough so they gave up and went inside. Michael tried the second time and was told they didn't want a surprize. And then it turned otu we were a good surprize and they were happy to stop party prep for a few minutes. :)
Max was styling in his fireworks outfit handed down from Audra via Krista. And when it was time for a costume change, he had another outfit from hand me downs from Niki and Krista that consisted of a white onesie and blue gingham shortalls. I was happy that he was able to be festive and that he was able to do so by wearing things that other people had sent along for us. We feel very lucky to have so many cute things.
Before the party started we visited Mr Bell and dropped off his new photo album. Max demonstrated his love of standing up. :)
Max met a lot of people at Granny and Grandpa's house, but mostly enjoyed hanging out with Granny, Gloria, Uncle Michael, and Grandpa. We took his AmbyBaby bed with us and he took a couple of short naps upstairs during the party. It was pretty noisy so he didn't sleep much. But I think that lack of daytime sleep lead to him sleeping more on the way home.
It is usually a 3.5 hour trip and it took us a little over 4 hours each way. So that wasn't bad.
